Pathfinder 2E
...

Welcome! Below you'll find a list of variant rules and homebrew that are active for my Pathfinder 2E campaigns, along with links to relevant player materials.

Variant Rules and Homebrew
...

Active variants and homebrew:

  • Stamina (homebrew, derived from the official variant rules)
  • Free Archetype (official variant rules)
    • Comes into play level 2 and beyond. The chosen archetype must make sense for the character or campaign setting. Confirm your selection with me when progressing to level 2.
  • Healer's Tools have 10 uses and Expanded Healer's Tools have 25. This replaces the unlimited uses that these tools usually have.
  • Using the Treat Wounds action at the Trained DC expends 1 Healer's Tools use, 2 at Expert, 3 at Master, and 4 at Legendary. The same applies for Battle Medicine and related actions that use Healer's Tools.
  • Characters may perform the Refocus exploration activity a number of times per day equal to their key ability modifier. This replaces the unlimited refocusing that characters usually have.
    • The Chalice Thaumaturge Drain action and similar 10-minute refill effects are likewise limited to a number of times per day equal to the character's key ability modifier.
  1. Player's Guide. This contains basic information on character creation.
  2. "How is PF2 different from 5e". This is a great Reddit post highlighting mechanical differences between the games.

General Reference
...

The compendium within the Foundry/Forge campaign contains all of the rules/items/feats/spells/etc. This is convenient for use while playing.

The Archives of Nethys contains the same material in an easy-to-search format on the web. This will generally be the site that comes up for Google searches (you'll typically want to search "pf2 [whatever]").

Character Creation
...

I highly recommend using the Pathbuilder app both for character creation as well as level advancement. Either the web app or the Android app will work.

The free version of the web app uses local browser storage by default. This is fine and the free version supports all of the character options you need. However, I recommend unlocking the paid version for a one-time $5.99 payment if you can. It both supports the developer of this amazing app and allows you to store your character to Google Drive, preventing data loss if you clear your browser storage or switch devices. To unlock, open the menu and select Signin -> Login and Upgrade App.

When you create a new character, select all of the default options (Use Remaster Rules, Allow Outdated Equipment, Allow Adventure paths checked, others unchecked).

Please check with me before selecting any character options marked as Uncommon or Rare.

Once you've locked in all of your selections for a 1st level character, select the menu option to Share Copy of Character and send the link to me. I'll use this to transfer your character to the VTT I use (Foundry).

Character Leveling
...

Unfortunately the Pathfinder 2E system in Foundry doesn't have a character level-up wizard like Roll20 does for D&D 5th edition.

Instead, I recommend leveling your character in the Pathbuilder app and then updating your character sheet in Foundry to match. This means changing the level, marking additional skill training and stat bonuses, and dragging feats from the compendium onto your character sheet.

It's a bit of a pain, but using Pathbuilder first ensures you don't miss any of your leveling selections, and the app itself helps you to surface your available choices.
